Local Service Ads Management

Search for an electrician on Google, and the first few names often carry a badge from Google. Those are Local Service Ads. You pay Google only when someone calls or messages you through one.

Your listing with Google's badge on it

Someone searches 'electrician near me', and your listing comes up at the top with your star rating and Google's badge. They tap Call, and that call counts as one lead.

Customers see the badged businesses before they see you

Picture a homeowner whose breaker keeps tripping on a Sunday night. They search on their phone, and the first listings on the screen each show a star rating and a badge saying Google checked the business. Your listing sits further down, however good your work is.

Getting that badge takes paperwork, and Google won't show a single ad until it's satisfied. It's the kind of signup that gets started on a slow afternoon and left half done.

Once the ads run, Google charges for each lead, meaning each call or message from the ad. Some turn out to be a sales pitch or a job you don't do, and those charges stay on the bill unless someone checks.

We set up your profile and run your ads

So what's left for you to do? Mostly, you answer the phone. We put the profile together and take you through Google's verification, so the paperwork gets finished.

Paying per lead doesn't buy the top spot. Google decides whose listing shows first partly by how quickly each business responds, so missed calls and slow replies to messages can push you down the list. Answer calls from the ads during the hours on your profile.

How it works

  1. 1

    Check that your trade qualifies

Only certain trades and professional services can run these ads. Tell us yours when you call, and we'll check it against Google's list.

  2. 2

    Send two documents

Your business license and proof of insurance go to Google with your profile. Have both ready before setup starts.

  3. 3

    Google checks your business

Google reviews what you sent, along with the rest of your profile. How long that takes is up to Google.

  4. 4

    Your listing goes live

Customers can call or message you straight from the listing. From then on, we manage the budget and bids every month.

Where Local Service Ads sit

On a local search they're the first thing on the page, above the regular ads and the map.

Why it's set up this way

  • 01

    The badge does the selling

Local Service Ads show above the regular ads with Google's own trust badge. For a homeowner choosing between strangers, that badge answers the first question.

  • 02

Per lead, so slow weeks cost less

You pay Google when a customer calls or messages through the ad. Google also lets advertisers dispute leads that weren't real customers, such as wrong numbers.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is paying per lead different from paying per click?
With regular Google Ads, you pay each time someone clicks, even if they leave without calling. Here, someone can open your listing and read your reviews at no cost to you, and the charge comes only when they call or message.
Which Google badge would my business get?
It depends on your category, and Google makes the call. Home trades like plumbing and roofing usually get Google Guaranteed, and law firms and other professional services usually carry Google Screened.
What does a lead cost?
Google sets the price, and it changes with the type of job and where you work. The budget on your account keeps the total in line with what you've agreed to spend.
What if a lead turns out to be a wrong number or a sales call?
You can ask Google to review that lead. When Google agrees it wasn't a potential customer, it credits the charge back to your account.
Do my Google reviews matter here?
They do. Your star rating shows on the listing next to the badge, and Google weighs your reviews when it decides whose listing comes first.
Can customers message me instead of calling?
Many listings have a Message button next to Call. A message counts as a lead, the same as a call does.
Can I choose which jobs I get leads for?
Your profile lists the job types you take and the area you cover, and Google shows your listing for those. Tell us when that changes, and we update the profile.
Is there a long-term contract?
There isn't. Billing is month to month.
